Dennis over at WAP Review has just put together a list of his most used apps for his trial E6.

He says that while there aren't as many apps for Symbian as other platforms, he can still find everything he needs from the Ovi Store. Image courtesy of My Nokia Blog His list is quite interesting as it includes apps that you hear about every day, like Gravity and Opera Mini, as well as ones you might not know much about such as SiC! FTP and Y-Browser. Each app is given a quick overview with Dennis explaining why they are useful to him. [...]

While we might not all be accomplished photographers, chances are we’ve all had a go at taking a snap or two on our camera phones.

We see something interesting, we take a picture. It’s pretty simple. But what are the chances of one of us becoming the next David Bailey, Annie Leibowitz or Mario Testino? They might be higher than you think… Style in the street Credit to Jason Hargrove Mobile photography is allowing us to capture what we see in the world around us in an instant. For the fashion-conscious among us, that provides the perfect opportunity to snap the styles of those that pass us in the street. [...]

You may have read a couple of weeks ago about a “zombie” virus, which infected over a million mobile phones in China.

According to the Shanghai Daily, it sent out spam messages that were costing as much as $300,000 a day! The virus was able to send infected phone owner’s SIM card information to hackers, who could then remotely control the phone. Once they got their hands on it, they’d send pay-per-click ads in text messages to contacts in the user’s address book. When the new user clicked on the infected link, their device also got the virus, so people infected all their friends just like "real" zombies. [...]

As keen mobile gamers, we’re always arguing over what’s the best mobile game ever created.

Unfortunately, if you ask a hundred people, then the likelihood is that you’ll get a hundred different answers. Rather than waste more time debating, we decided to get a definitive answer from one of the world’s only professors of gaming. Yeah, you heard us right. Aki Järvinen, Lead Social Designer at Digital Chocolate, has a Ph.D. in the psychology and design of games. He’s also spent the last decade developing games for various platforms. [...]

It seems like only yesterday that organizing a night out with your buddies meant a frantic round of phone calls days beforehand.

Nowadays, thanks to social media, you can organize an entire party in a few clicks. Whether you think this is just a fad or a revolution, the stats are truly mindblowing. Last year, for example, one in eight couples who got married in the US met through social media. With ever more powerful social media apps on hand, there's really no excuse not to put the social into your life. Here are five of our favourites, which do that for free. [...]

As you probably know by now, WOMWorld/Nokia is living it up out in Turkey right now for the FIBA World Basketball Championships.

We'll level with you... our knowledge of basketball before the tournament was a tad patchy, so we brought a few basketball loving pals out with us. They are: Mark at A Stern Warning Marcus at Vampyr.se Pinar at Pinar Ilik Yesterday we filmed a quick video outside the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul where the bigs games are happening to get some of their thoughts on how the tournament has gone so far – and also the Ovi BBall app that the guys are blogging on… Untitled from WOMWorld/Nokia on Vimeo. WOMWorld/Nokia has sent me, Chris_illman, out to Turkey to watch the FIBA World Basketball Championships – essentially the World Cup of basketball.

Yes, it’s a tough gig, but someone had to do it, so I was flown out kicking and screaming on Thursday. Before I start sounding too smug, I should mention that it took me 21 hours to get door to door from WOMWorld/Nokia Towers to the hotel here in Kayseri – after an almost comically disastrous journey. I stress the word ‘almost’. I won't go in to details, but the lowest ebb came as I found myself consuming a very sub-standard shish kebab in a completely deserted (and quite shabby) Istanbul hotel 'restaurant'. [...]
