#NokiaUnfenced photo contest winner

So when the guys were in Nevada last week having fun doing some serious phone testing, there was a little contest to see who could take the best picture that summed up the day.

Well The Cowboy thought long and hard about it, and decided that Mike Macias of The Mobile Fanatics took the best shot of the day. Taken on an N8 in the evening sun, it kind of sums up what being out on the ranch is all about. That warm feeling at the end of a day when the steaks are on the BBQ, there's something cold to be drunk and all is well in the world. Congrats Mike - The Cowboy will be in touch! And for more pics from Mike from Nevada, check out his Flickr stream. [...]

Today, Kevin from NokiaKnowings shares his thoughts on what went on at the weekend at the #NokiaUnfenced meet in Nevada:

He outlines the ‘fun’ (and some of the hiccups), but makes sure he includes the fact that it was all in the name of testing out the phones.

And has a tantalising pic of the phones about to be dropped...promising more from the video that is coming soon. Some great pics from Kevin, but he also links to the set from SomeAudioGuy. So take a look and let him know if you have any questions about how the Nokias stacked up.

You probably noticed on Twitter this weekend that a few hardy souls were braving the 100+ degree temperatures in the Nevada desert, all in the interests of #NokiaUnfenced (that Las Vegas was a mere lasoo toss away had no bearing on the matter, we’re sure)

Some of the early images emerging from their time there reveal a little of what the weekend entailed…

.. There were N8s in attendance: There were horses (this one partnered by Jeb Brilliant) And it looked like there were some casualties All will no doubt be revealed once the newly-be-hatted cowboys make their dusty way home and gather their thoughts before committing them to virtual paper. In the meantime, @thecowboy1887 is still out in the desert with his trusty Astound.... [...]

Push N8 – A recap

Overview:

Push N8 is a project that continues the story of the two original Push N900 hacks, creating more polished, limited-run Nokia N8 prototype accessories.

These were then given to those who submitted the most creative ideas of how to showcase their capabilities. The prototypes demonstrate the power of the device, its award winning imaging capabilities, the openness of Symbian and the amazing creativity of the community surrounding the project. A reminder of the prototypes: Push Skating - a trick-tracking skateboard that measures your tricks in real-life, sending data from the skateboard to the Nokia N8, which then processes the data and awards the user points per trick. Nokia #N8DirectandProject is a hit

It was the Nokia #N8DirectandProject event in Vancouver a couple of nights ago, and Glenn Letham of LBS Zone was there (I can confirm the sighting) to soak it all in.

26 one minute movies were premiered in one night, all shot on the Nokia N8. Glenn writes about the event and his own experiences with the N8 - of the winning entry he says it did a 'fantastic job telling a memorable story', and praises the diverse nature of the movies on show. I can attest to the fact that every single entrant did a great job with their 60-second time slot. Glenn also has his say on the N8 itself, as he had one in his hands and has been getting to grips with it for a couple of days. [...]

Ari Partinen is a design engineer at Nokia who recently participated in a photo shoot for the Nokia N8.

In this post, he explains how the team created a professional quality portrait picture without any image enhancing software. Over to you Ari! A few weeks back I had the opportunity to join the Nokia marketing team on a photo shoot using nothing but the new Nokia N8. For me this was a treat because I have worked with the device for the past two years, perfecting the image quality and field testing the device to its limits. [...]

When Nokia Push started out back in September 2009, we helped re-imagine skating, kite aerial photography, city guides and more, but even we couldn’t have imagined we’d be here a year later, telling you who we’ve partnered with.

In 2011, Nokia Push will be collaborating with the world’s biggest snowboarding company, Burton Snowboards, to create a new type of connected snowboarding. Work has already started between Nokia and Burton, and the collaboration will be run in the spirit of the Push project – transparently, with support from our awesome community. You’ll be able to get your first taste of the Nokia Push Burton at next year’s Burton Euro Open in January, followed by a beta launch at the US Open in March. [...]
