You literally had to pick up a call from a Lumia to win a mystery amazing day out! 'If a simple phone call could change your everyday life..how far would you go to pick it up?' 8 mobile myths knocked out the park

Jan

14:00 pm

Let’s face it, we all love our mobiles.

So much so that when we’re not using them, we’re often talking about them. Whether it’s wading in to the never-ending online debate or advising your (no doubt less informed) friends and family in the real world about their next phone, there’s always fat to chew in the mobile world. This chatter is generally a wonderful thing, but inevitably it sees certain myths arise and spread like a crazed wildfire. [...]

It’s true, the Nokia Store is getting a whole lotta love these days.

Figures released yesterday revealed that the Nokia Store attracts more than 11 million downloads of content items every single day. The most popular content downloading device was the Nokia N8, followed by the 5800 XpressMusic, while the most content hungry nation was India. Interesting stuff. At this point, you’re probably also wondering the top selling apps of 2011 were. Well wonder no more. [...]

Talk about graduating from the school of hard ‘Noks’!

Courtesy of Matjaz Matjaz had landed safely after taking a daredevil hang glide flight, only to discover that his wallet and Nokia N8 had fallen out of his mistakenly unzipped pocket. The possibility of finding his prized possessions was implausible enough, but getting his phone back in one piece was a mere impossibility, right? Wrong. Oh, and once cast your eye over Matjaz’s incredible story, you might realise you know him from somewhere… his winning N8 Producers entry! It’s fair to say this guy has been through more with his Nokia N8 than most. [...]

The wait is over, time to pick a winner!

For those of you unaware of the competition - we asked the community to download the WRC Live app, review it and then post the review link to us. We had some fantastic entries and it was really tough for us to settle on just one winner. The WRC Live app is packed full of content so we wanted to see a comprehensive dissection of everything contained within it. As always, there can only be one winner. [...]

NFC.

Tippy-tappy connection-thingy. Whatever you want to call it, there is seemingly no stopping the rise of this exciting technology. And with 20 per cent (about 300 million) of all smartphones expected to be NFC-enabled by 2014, next year is sure to see more and more people getting hands on with it. If you’re still unsure of what NFC is, here’s a quick explanation of the technology: NFC enables two devices to interact via electromagnetic radio fields, transferring small amounts of data wirelessly over short distances or by physical touch. 13:24 pm

Ah, a good old friendly hug.

Who doesn't love a hug? A hug makes everything better and is scientifically proven to bring down anxiety, lift you up and put a smile on your face. That's why we caught up with Arie Moyal to discuss the HugTrainUSA. via kingmaster Just over two years ago Arie Moyal started a fantastic initiative called HugTrainUSA to create awareness of mental health through hugs. When we heard about the cause we jumped at the opportunity to find out more (but secretly we just wanted a big hug). [...]
