It’s that time of the month again when James Burland reveals the winners of his N8 Photo Awards.

It might just be us, but we think the photos just keep on getting better. So we're going to mix up the photos, the top three from James' selection that we liked the best, and before you go see for yourself which has won, let's see if you can guess the prizewinner. Did you guess right? ...and there's more! Not only has James pulled out these for his competition, but we took a look in the Nokia N8 User Group that he runs on Flickr. [...]

Ouch.

via Symbian Tweet (who also have a Nokia 701 review) First up is Samir Makwana from The Mobile Indian who has a Nokia 701 in his hands, and shares his thoughts. We'll skip straight to the Belle discussion though, and let you read the rest at your leisure. He says that Belle's major improvements in its feature set include 'better scrolling' but that the 'Major highlight of the Symbian Belle update is the new Notification tray system that offers combined list of notifications related to the respective apps' He concludes by putting the 701 in the 'multimedia frenzy' bracket, assisted by the 'fresh looking' Symbian Belle. 20:06 pm

We’ve come up with an ingenuous, fun and interactive way to give you an opportunity to check out the Lumia 800 without moving a muscle.

Sound fun? We hope so. :) As you know we have a few Lumia 800 phones dotted around the place... And we're in the process of shipping them out to everyone for trial, so while you wait for yours to arrive, please give us your suggestions on what you'd like to see from one. Should we make a video of a specific feature or two in the UI? Are you desperate to see how the camera works and want us to take a load of sample snaps using the different camera functions? Maybe you want us to take a trip using Nokia Maps or Nokia Drive. [...]

Weekly regional spotlight: India

12:57 pm

Perceptions surrounding India as a nation generally consist of varying cultures, diverse landscapes and in more recent times, huge economic growth.

So it's with great excitement that we await the reaction from India in the wake of the impending release of the Nokia Lumia 710 and 800 smart phones. With their arrival onto the subcontinent imminent, we thought it was only right to delve a little deeper into some of the reactions that have been circulating from India. There's been a lot of enthusiasm about the launch in Delhi last week. Clinton Jeff seemed particularly excited as he shares some of his experiences at the event. [...]

Which Nokia phones were these taken with?

If you suffer from arachnophobia look away.

It’s probably too late for that because this headline picture is of a wonderful (or terrifying) spider. To be honest, most of us are in the terrified camp too, but once you realise it’s just an image captured by a Nokia smartphone, you can look beyond the beauty of this beast and see the power of the technology that brings it to you. Below we have four pictures all taken with Nokia phones. [...]

Game on! The Nokia E6 isn’t just about emails

Nov

21:30 pm

Yes, it’s an enterprise phone, aimed at business users and those who spend a lot of time typing, but as David Gilson points out over at All About Symbian, gaming on the Nokia E6 presents a ‘unique challenge to developers’.

It's all about re-factoring the user interface, but don't worry, it's not as 'science-y' as it sounds. David explains in a series of real world gaming tests how certain drivers, shooters and bird catapulters pan out on the E6. He reckons gaming can be a decent experience: 'despite the E6’s enterprise credentials, it is a credible gaming device too' Without stealing David's thunder and revealing his tests and full findings, what did people have to say on David's thoughts? When discussing the relative merits of the efforts of developers to adapt their graphics for the screen size and resolution, Rumba Joe says the makers of Dragon Lore: 'really have put effort into recreating the graphics for VGA. 15:21 pm

This post will be great news for those of you who have already purchased a Lumia 800 or those of you who are wondering how well apps run on the device before you buy one.

Our friend Jay Montano over at mynokiablog has introduced a new daily post called 'Lumiappaday' for his fans. He is reviewing, filming and discussing an app a day for the Lumia 800 in thorough detail. Today he is looking at the Amazon Kindle app. The Amazon Kindle app is for all you book lovers out there, yeah, you know who you are! Transporting large and often heavy books is a bane for many people who are constantly on the move, so the Amazon Kindle app lets you electronically download books directly to your mobile phone. For all the people in the community that saw the post and participated in our competition, please read on... The end result was a competition that asked everyone to guess how many Lumia 800 handsets were in the above image. [...]

Nokia N9: “Man’s best friend”

Nov

23:00 pm

Beautiful, disruptive, breathtaking, magnificent, sophisticated, bliss…

.. these are just a few of the words used in the reviews for our N9 segment today. We'll kick things off with a feisty comment from Dawid Lorenz, who took an N9 off our hands for two weeks to give it a proper once, twice and possibly even a thrice over. Nothing if anything is left out in his detailed and informative shakedown. "The most beautiful and visually sophisticated mobile phone Nokia has ever created" Throughout his review, Dawid regularly commends the N9 for its ease of use, smooth operation within the UI and applications, and exceptional physical appearance. Say hello to Nokia Connects!

Nov

19:39 pm

In one form or another we all say the word hello every single day.

Some of you might say hola (Spain), guten tag (Germany), mabuhay (Philippines), namoshkar (Bengali – India) or even aloha (Hawaii). It doesn't feel it, but it has been over a month since we kicked off Nokia Connects. As with all communities, we want to welcome the old and new alike, even if it's to say a simple hello. :) We may know some of you better than others but even a simple name, what you do, where you are from and what you love about Nokia would put a smile on our faces.
