Ah, a good old friendly hug.

Who doesn't love a hug? A hug makes everything better and is scientifically proven to bring down anxiety, lift you up and put a smile on your face. That's why we caught up with Arie Moyal to discuss the HugTrainUSA. via kingmaster Just over two years ago Arie Moyal started a fantastic initiative called HugTrainUSA to create awareness of mental health through hugs. When we heard about the cause we jumped at the opportunity to find out more (but secretly we just wanted a big hug). [...]

Dec

21:42 pm

As much of Western Europe and East Coast America braces itself for a smattering of seasonal snow, we decided to bring together a collection of your best snow pics from across the web, of course all taken on Nokia phones…

.. via mrsapplegate First up is the candid cat shot above by mrsapplegate on Flickr. She's expertly captured the shocked expression from Sammy, her devoted housecat as he eyes up the snow through the window. Next up we have this mysterious moment by Paul Bevan, using a Nokia N82. "This shoe seemed to have been abandoned in the snow in a car park at Aberystwyth University, makes you wonder what story it has to tell" he explained on Flickr. [...]

Nokia N9 reviews: fashion & tech

Dec
15

00:33 am

Two stories of a two week relationship with the Nokia N9 are just itching to be told, one from a fashionista with a soft spot for cyan (lucky that) and another from a self confessed mobile fanatic.

Let's kick off with a splash of colour shall we? Here we have Lebanese fashionisa, Lana, who admits to have been eyeing up the N9 even before we had the chance to send her one. Blue being her favourite colour, it seemed right that we honoured this with a cyan phone! via larmoiredelana Her review is as expected and predominantly about aesthetics and design. The N9, with its mix of 'rigidity and very roundish corners', makes Lana say it's the most beautiful smartphone seen this year. [...]

The Nokia Lumia 710 shines on its U.S. debut

Dec

23:58 pm

Announced earlier, the Lumia 710 is going to be available in the U.S.

S. in the New Year, and it's got people talking. Courtesy of The Verge John Biggs at TechCrunch reckons the Lumia 710 is "what Nokia does best: solid, acceptably-specced hardware at a price that’s approaching free" He's a fan of the phone and its entry-point status, saying that is poses a "real and credible threat to Android" Strong words indeed. He's not the only one, though. Paul Ferson, writing at Neowin, reckons the Nokia Lumia 710 "appears to be an affordable route into the Windows Phone 7 smartphone world, on top of being able to appeal to more than just new smartphone buyers" All looking rosy so far, and looking into the comments on the post that popped up on The Verge by Sean Hollister shows that the Lumia 710 has its strong supporters. 5 incredible ways mobile design will change in the next 5 years

Dec
14

19:40 pm

Alan Kay, the American Computer Scientist, is famed for saying “The best way to predict the future is to invent it”.

Head of Design Strategy and Foresight, Sondre Ager-Wick, helps Nokia to do just that. What better person then to ask about the evolution of mobile design? DIY design Hackers get a pretty bad press, but apparently that’s all set to change. In the near future people will still be taking concepts and adapting them for their own use. However, instead of trying to stop them, Sondre believes companies will embrace them. [...]

Nokia X7: is it for you?

Dec
14

01:36 am

Taking a look at a phone’s specifications on a piece of paper is all well and good.

But what I want to know is what makes people say 'Yes. That is the phone for me.' Sometimes the specifications might be enough for you, but I reckon for most people there's more to it than that. To the un-trained eye, it can be difficult or even impossible to figure out just what exactly a mobile is good for from a wall of spec jargon. This is why it's excellent to see somebody going through all the effort for you by showing exactly what the X7 is good at and who might be interested in bagging one for Christmas, or any other similarly festive occasion that I will leave up to your own imaginations.
