Take a look at your Nokia right now and the many apps you no doubt have installed on it – and tell me how many of those you use every single day.

via Fone Arena
I’ll be honest here, I just did an audit of my apps. I have 17 apps installed on my N8 that I have actually downloaded from the Nokia Store and of those 17 I use two on a daily basis. Two. That’s about 12% of the total apps installed that get used every day. For those I use about once a week, the figure rises to 30%. That means 70% of the apps I have installed hardly ever get used. Will I delete them? No, I might need them some day in the future, but it does beg the questions – why did I install them in the first place? And why don’t I use them anymore?
Well, a few were downloaded as research for posts here at Nokia Connects, a few on recommendations that I have seen on many posts that you guys have written, and a few because I have read the buzz about them and jumped unashamedly on the passing bandwagon. I’ve been meaning to clear out the list for ages, and have started several times, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. What if I suddenly feel the need to slice some fruit with a samurai sword? Or turn a photo into a sketch?
I was prompted to write this post by an article I read on the numbers behind the Foursquare success story. It questions how many of the 20 million users are still active, and how many have ‘drifted away’? Because that’s what you do with apps, isn’t it? Use them intensively for a while, then just gradually slow down in your usage. Or is that just me? Us mobile users are notoriously fickle, always looking for the next new thing (‘Foursquare is done, bring on Highlight and location-aware automated check-ins’). Is this the accepted ‘career path’ for apps? Something I think the Angry Birds guys have done amazingly well is to keep their offering fresh with the Rio and Seasons iterations. Other games stick to the original, and they are the ones I don’t play anymore.
So what’s your number? How many of your apps are languishing, unused in a list? Potentially there are those of you out there who regularly cull those apps that don’t make your day-to-day usage, but I’m betting that there are those of you who are just like me. Let me know in the comments, or by sending me your 140 characters @Nokia_Connects.

Cool.
I have 360+ apps and games installed. Which include apps and games from store and some old java games installed myself.
I mostly use opera mini, some apps according to the need, play HD games a lot.
I have 8GB mass and 8 GB memory card.
I have enough space for my music, images and videos.
So I only install useful app. Uninstalling is not that necessary unless I find something like that and because of huge storage and no slow down.
Happy with my 701 running Belle FP1.

I am happy with my Nokia 701 Belle FP 1too
……
Belle FP 1 is damn fast and smooth…I always get silky touch menu with it.
I like 701 Bcoz of it’s hardware and other technologies.
Camera due to absent of Auto Focus is little bad than other mobile but in some situations it can take better pics than Neo V and E 7 and all other EDOF lense smartphones…..as it uses EDOF gen 2 lense
As far as apps are concern I can get many many useful apps… Though few apps are not compatible with my Belle FP 1 …and my phone hang few times ..
But about games apps i am little too disappointed bcoz games apps should be updated for Belle FP 1 like Aphalt 6 HD and so on and Gameloft,Ea mobile and other companies dont release apps that utilise my hardware not N8′s which is very very poor …
Belle Fp 1 has changed my view about Symbian…
Am too Happy with my 701 running Belle FP1.
And looking forward to future updates

I have about 15 apps downloaded to my N9. Not because there aren’t any (the Nokia Store is full of ‘em) it’s just that I’m not an app-freak. I can easily live without banking apps, supermarket apps, most games (who has the time?!) and what I do have are actually really useful to me. I use (a LOT) : gPodder for my fave podcasts, Newsy, Nokia Maps and Drive (SO good), CuteTube, Monopoly and MeeCast. And I’m a happy camper!

Interesting spread of numbers there. From the bare bones ‘vital’ users to the what I call ‘hoarders’. Srikanth, how often do you use each of the 360 apps?

I got 16 apps and I use on daily basis only 3, and weekly basis something like 4 or 5.
I have Angry Birs only because some friends like it, so they can play when I’m near them. Others are really utility stuff, like my Dropbox app, I don’t use it weekly, but the times I needed to use It was there and It was very helpful.
The apps have some different categories of use in my opinion. Some add features to your day, others are tools for some tasks and there are others just for entertainment. To make success you need to know your category and work thinking about that.
The guys from Angry Birds know they are that it isn’t a tool or something will help you do some task on your day, so they keep creating new stuff to get your attention again and again and again. They are doing a really good job.
Great text! If you get some more numbers please share with us!
