Google the Nokia N9 and you get 48 million results. With so many web pages dedicated to a smartphone Engadget described as the “most lust-worthy slab of engineering ever seen,” we thought everything there was to know about the Nokia N9 had already been revealed. Turns out we were wrong. When we got in touch with the guys who created this tech masterpiece, they highlighted a host of facts or figures, tips or tricks they thought the world still needed to hear. Here’s nine of the best.
1. The N9 is made out of polycarbonate, the same material that jet fighters, such as the F-22, are made from.

2. If you forget to put your N9 on silent, you can turn it face down, or press any of the keys while it’s ringing, to silence it without hanging up.
3. The Product Manager for Nokia Maps brought sports shoes to the office every day, and walked over 50 km, to ensure the Nokia N9’s positioning solutions (GPS, cellid and WiFi) worked brilliantly.

4. The quick launch bar provides quick access to the most common applications from any view by swiping from the bottom edge of the screen and holding your finger down midway.
5. There are four stylish hard covers, and two leather-carrying cases especially designed to protect the N9 from wear and tear.

6. The polycarbonate body is of same colour throughout so even deeper scratches won’t ruin its appearance.
7 The N9’s NFC not only allows you to exchange links, contacts, documents, photos, contacts and music with other NFC devices, but also simultaneously connect to more than one device, such as a speaker or headset.

8. Many lists, such as the contacts list, can be quickly panned to the desired position by sliding your finger up and down near the right edge of the view.
9. The standby screen has space for a small customizable image, which can be set using 3rd party software available from the Nokia Store.

If you think this list is long, it’s going to be a whole lot longer sometime soon. Why? Because the next update, PR1.2, will increase the fixes, tweaks and improvements since launch, to over 3500. In the meantime, if you’ve got any gems about the Nokia N9 you think nobody knows about, we’d love to hear about them here or @Nokia_Connects.

It is NOT available in my country: Italy.
Shame on you.

Feel your pain Michele, but i wouldn’t take it so personal. It is not difficult to buy an N9 online. And it is very much worth the extra bit of trouble.
Love the look of that speaker! Where can you buy from?

Michele, if you can come to Bosnia and Hercegovina you can buy phone here. 410€ 64GB black model.
I’m really sorry that you can’t get it.
It’s really great phone and worth every cent.
I’m sure that you can buy Lumia. :/

There an easy fix to turn on video camera zoom support during recording
i can now download any file type in the browser

Hi Nokia,
N9 is a lovely phone when come to swipe, is easy and syltish.
But i have problem with download some application from website (Nokia website or other software from website) that which not from my N9 store, could it be my phone has locked by the local Nokia or service provider?
I have set my application – Intallation mode to ‘Allow installation from non-store sources’, but it is still can’t work. It appeared to be ‘download fail or device not support’.
Please help me as i love Nokia (and proud of all my Nokia phones) since i got my 1st Nokia phone more than 10 years ago and never think of changing other brand.
Thank you and best regards,
Grace

Hi Grace, very happy to hear you’re in love with your N9 as as I am. Sorry to hear about your issue with apps. I can’t say for certain but I think it’s very unlikely your phone was locked. You say it’s only some apps, so presumably you can download others.
Can you tell me which apps you’re having problems with?

You at Nokia made a huge mistake abandoning Linux and lost the opportunity to be Iphone’s competitor. Samsung guys were smarter, adopted Android while they develp Tizen (like you should have been doing) and now Nokia, the “pride” of european technology, can’t even cast a shadow over Samsung… What a shame…
So, even if I’m guessing the answer to my question, are you planning at Nokia to sell a Linux version of the Lumia 900?
Off-Topic: Has anybody tested Plasma Active on the N9? Does it work well?
Regards.

Pois ai sim o meu maybisn tera morrido.

This is my voice to You Nokia and Mr Elop esspecially: stop playing kindergarten and start making money on Nokia N9 and Linux MeeGo!! Allow ppl in markets like USA, India, Germany, UK and others just to buy what they want to spend money for! And this is Nokia N9!! Last Friday I wanted to by my N9 in London but I was hardsaled to buy Nokia Lumnia whatever it was, look similar but DOES NOT WORK AS I WANT! I refused, that was offendive! When you will stop playing with customers hide&sick and start to deliver what people want? I want to pay for it, but for N9!! Today I have bought my Nokia N9 in… Poland!! Why I can’t buy it UK? Who has lost mind there??

Did you know that Nokia N9 is faster than Apple iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy SII?
In SunSpider 0.9.1 benchmark Nokia N9 reaches result 3477 ms, faster than iPhone 4 with 3545 ms and Galaxy S II with 3727 ms.
Despite all these…this phone is not getting a hype…and Whole Nokia is going down!
Why can’t they release it in INDIA?
